   It is a fine Sunday morning. Ann and her mother are on a big bus. There are many people on it. Some of them come from America, and some come from England and others come from Japan. They are all their friends. They are going to the Great Wall. There are two Chinese on the bus. One is a woman. She is driving the bus. The other is a young man. He speaks good English. He is now talking about the Great Wall. The other people are all listening to him. They like the Great Wall. They want to see it very much.

    Mr. White looks out of his window. There is a boy at the there side of the street. The boy takes some bread out of a bag and begins eating it. There is a very thin dog in the street too.

    The boy says to it, “Come here, good dog. I'll give you some bread.” The dog is hungry and goes to the boy, but he does not give it any bread. He kicks the dog. It runs away.

    Then Mr. White comes out of his house and says to the boy, “I'll give you a shilling.”

    The boy is happy and says,“Yes”. “Come here,” Mr. White says. The boy goes to him, but Mr. White doesn't give him a shilling. He hits him with a stick.

    The boy cries and says, “Why do you hit me? I don't ask you for any money.” “No,” Mr. White says, “And the dog doesn't ask you for any bread, but you kick it.”

     An old tiger lives in the forest. He does not want to look for food now. He often tells other animals to bring him something to eat.

     He see a monkey and says, “I am hungry, Monkey. Go to the village and bring me a fat pig.”

  “Oh, Tiger,” says the monkey. “I cannot do that now. There is another tiger over there. He also wants a fat pig. He will not let me get anything for you to eat. I am afraid of him.”

   “What?” cries the old tiger?“Show me that tiger. I will talk to him.”

    “Come with me,” says the monkey.

     The monkey and the tiger get to a bridge over the river.

   “Now look down at the river,”says the monkey.

   “Do you see the head, the white teeth and the large green eyes of a tiger?”

   “Yes, I do.” Cries the old tiger, “I will eat him up”

     With these words, the tiger jumps into the water.

    Tom and Fred are students.They are both twelve years old, and they are in the same class in their school.

    Last Friday afternoon they have a fight in class, and their teacher is very angry. He says to both of them, “Stay here after the lessons this afternoon, and write your names a hundred times.”

    After the last lesson, all the other boys go home, but Tom and Fred stay in the classroom with their teacher.

    They begin writing their names. The teacher looks at him and says, “Why are you crying, Fred?” 

  “Because his name is Tommy, and my name is very very long. My name is Frederick Hollingsworth.” Fred says.

    Some monkeys are playingin a tree near a lake. They are having a good time.

    Suddenly a little monkeys cry, “Look, the moon has dropped into the water!” “Get it out, hurry!” says the old monkey.

    The little monkey hangs from the tree by his tail. Then each monkey hangs from the other by his legs.

    At last they get to the water, but still they cannot scoop up the moon. Another little monkey finds half a gourd to scoop up the moon. Aha! He gets the moon in the gourd.

    At that time all the monkey come for the moon. But the gourd drops and the moon are broken. The monkeys are very sorry. But they look up, they find the moon is still high up in the sky, shining bright.

     My name is Zhou Dan. I'm a Chinese girl. I'm twelve. I'm from Zhengzhou, China. Do you know Zhengzhou? It's in the middle of China. I'm in No. 8 Middle School. There are about nine hundred students and fifty teachers in our school. Ours is a good school in Zhengzhou. I'm in Class 2, Grade 1. There are 49 students in our class, 29 girls and 20 boys. My English teacher is Miss Zhao Dan. Our names are almost the same, right? She is nice to me. We're good friends. I like English, and I like music, too. I want to find a pen friend.     There are four season in a year. Spring begins first. Summer is after spring. Then it's fall. Winter is the last season in a year. In China, the weather is not the same in winter. In Beijing, it's very cold. It often snows. People can play with snow and they must turn on the heating machine( 暖气机). But in Hainan it's not cold. It's very warm. People there can go to swim in the sun.
