    Little Peter is a boy of nine. He began to go to school when he was six, and now he is in Grade Three. He lives not far from the school but he is often late      class. He likes watching TV in the evening and goes to bed late, so he can't       on time in the morning.

    This term, Mrs Black, Peter's aunt, works in Peter's school. She is strict with Peter and often tells the boy to obey the school rules and come to school on time. Yesterday morning Peter got up late. When he hurried to school, it was a       past eight. His aunt was waiting for him at the school gate.

    Uncle Wang works in a book shop in the middle of the city. The shop is not far from his home. It is about one kilometre away. So Uncle Wang seldom goes to work by bus.  He usually goes there by bike, sometimes on foot. It takes him twenty minutes to get there by bike and forty minutes on foot. Today his bike is broken. He wants to walk there. Now he is having breakfast. He leaves home at ten minutes to eight and he walks to work twenty minutes earlier. His work starts at half past eight in the morning and finishes at a quarter to five in the afternoon.

    Children often have their exams in July. The school year will end soon. Boys and girls will bare about two 1 to relax. The summer vacation is the best part of the year for most children. The2 is usually fine. They can swim, go to summer camp or3 other places with their parents.

    Of course, the beaches are good4 for relaxing. Some children are5to live near the sea. They can enjoy the sea anytime, But for the children who live far from the sea, they can only go to the beaches for one or two weeks with 6 parents.

    Why do children like spending their summer vacation on the beaches? It is because they like the sand, the sun, the cool wind and the sea water. There are lots of new things to see, delicious things to  7 , and exciting things to do.

    People are busy working every day, so they do not have e       time to do exercise. As a result, many people become too f       or too thin. To keep our bodies healthy, we have to do e       every day.

      There are many k      of exercise. Bending (弯腰) and stretching (伸展) help us move easily. Before we play ball games or swim, it is better for us to do bending and stretching exercise first. This kind of exercise is sometimes c       warm up exercise. Running is also good exercise. If we cannot run fast, we can jog. Jogging means running s      . Again, before we run or jog, we must do warm up exercise. Also, we should not run or jog in busy streets. The a       there is often dirty. Some people like weight lifting (举重) because it can make their bodies strong. Also, we need to do some warm up exercise before weight lifting.

    Mr King worked in a factory. He liked playing soccer and spent much time on it, so he was sometimes late for work. His boss was so angry that he fired(解雇) Mr King. Mr King couldn't find another job. Finally he got into trouble and lived a difficult life.

    One of his friends felt sorry for him and introduced(介绍) him to a headmaster, whose school was just in need of swimming coaches. Mr King began to teach the school children to swim. He wasn't a good coach. Two months later, the children learned nothing. Few of them could swim.

    It was a hot Saturday. The children wouldn't stay in the classroom and wanted to swim in the river. Mr King failed to stop them. Before they started, he drew a red line below the knee of each child. He said to them, "Come out of the river a~ once if the water reaches the line."
