Not everybody is lucky to have sisters, but I am. I have a little sister 1 Pranky. She is naughty (顽皮的), but at the same time very lovely. I still remember how we used to fight 2small things when we were young. One day, she wanted to play with a toy 3 was also my favorite. I also wanted it. Then we fought with each other. Yet, 4 our mom came to solve the problem, we became united and fought against her.

    When we got a little older, we used to talk for hours about beauty, go shopping together, try on all the 5 clothes. As time passes by, we grow up and now we are 6 middle school students.

    It is such a good thing to have 7 sister. I think I am so lucky to have one 8 she would always stand with me and love me9, even if the whole world stands against me. No matter where I am, I could just pick up the phone and call her just like I talked to her yesterday. She is a gift which 10 from God

    April 27th is a special day in Britain. It's called "Take Our Daughters to Work Day". It was 1 to Britain in 1994 from America. On that day thousands of girls take a day 2 school and go with one of their parents to their work places. By doing this, it can 3 girls more about the society where they live.

    Now the girls can have a close look at 4 their parents are doing. This may help them to be calmer when they have to choose a 5. Mary experienced a day of work at her mother's office. This helped her 6 her mother's work better. She said that this made her feel more confident about her future.

Experts think that girls with more self-confidence are more likely to be9 than common girls. 10parents can set good examples both at work and at home for them, they will do better than others.     Science Fair Events

    There is plenty to do during the science fair. Of course, you will want to look at all of the students' projects. There will be other exciting things to see and to do as well. These events will light up the wonderful world of science. The big event is to announce the winners in each grade. It will take place at the awards ceremony on Friday afternoon. Several of the other events are listed below.

    Meet a Robot!

    Can people and robots work together? Learn about the latest research about Demo. Demo is a robot that can help people with jobs. Learn how Demo's large blue eyes are able to "see". Watch Demo take and hold objects and move them from side to side to get a feel for their size. Then see how Demo puts the objects on a shelf.

    Our Own Inventor!

    Make sure you're in the gym at 10:00 a. m. on Friday. That's when the local inventor will give a talk about his life. He will also show what his inventions can do. At the end of his talk, the inventor will answer questions from the students.

    One Saturday morning, Carol called her good friend and said, "My dad's taking me to Santa Monica today. Laura, do you want to go with us?" Laura loves to go to the beach, so she said she would be happy to.

    Santa Monica beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in California. There are more scenic views on the coastline up and down the state. It has a very large beach area that features(以……为特色)white sand and lots of room to play. Carol likes to throw a Frisbee around with her friends and to play volleyball.

    "Do you want to play volleyball, Laura?" Carol asked when they got there. "Sure," said Laura, "but who are we going to play with? It needs more than two people to play." Carol thought about it, and said that they should start playing first and then others would join in, so the two girls started playing alone. Just as Carol said, more kids came over and wanted to play with them. Soon they had more than enough people for a game, and they played for hours.

    After the game, the two girls wanted to cool off, so they decided to jump into the ocean for a little relief. The water was crowded, but that just added to the fun. It was cool and wet, and the waves were just right. Some people were surfing both on surfboards and body boards, while others were swimming out to the buoys(浮标). The two girls had fun swimming in the water.

    About half an hour later, the two girls felt a little tired and came to the coast. On the coast, they saw two boys digging for sea shells. They ran up to them and asked them if they could try. "Sure. Why not?" said the two boys. So Carol and Laura started searching for the sea shells on the beach and soon found a very beautiful one. The two girls had a good time.

      ⑴Michael Green owns a big company in the USA. His company produces lots of goods. Now, he is thinking about doing sea transport business in East China.

      ⑵Paul Smith is going to work in China. He wants to live a city where there's lots of snow. He also wants to attend an ice festival.

      ⑶Mike Black has been working in theme park for many years. He knows about China Western Development from the Internet and wants to choose a city in West China to build a park. The climate of the city must be good.

      ⑷Sarah White was born and brought up in the USA, but her mom is Chinese. She often talks to Linda about her hometown in East China. There is a world-famous lake in the city. She is looking forward to visiting it.

      ⑸John Brown showed great interest in Chinese kung fu two years ago. Now he is a member of my university's kung fu club. He's considering going to China and learning more about Chinese kung fu.

    A hero should be kind, nice and willing to help anyone. That is what my hero Dr Gloria is like. She helps save lives by treating people and heading the Children's Health Project of Washington D.C.

    Dr Gloria did not have a lot as growing up in a poor area of Brooklyn, New York. She suffered a lot        she was a child. After she grew up, she wanted to help poor        in her city. She turned down high-paying jobs and chose to work on the south side of Washington D.C. where crime (犯罪) and child deaths are common. She saw murder and even had a knife pulled on her by a poor man. Sometimes her work had to be put to an end because of fights.        if you were to ask        if she was scared, she would say no. She wanted to give medical treatment to poor people. When she was a child, she knew how hard it was for poor people to go to hospital because they could not        the expenses. She knew she could make a difference to poor people's lives. She        to keep doing so even though it meant her life might be        danger.

   In order to help        poor people, she started the Children's Health Project of Washington D.C. It helps provide health care for children in the most dangerous parts of the inner city. She was the        doctor to work on the project. She put in twelve years of hard effort to help the program. When she saw a man get shot nearby, did that stop her? No! It only made her work even harder to help the less fortunate. Her effort paid off. She helped a lot of people and was given        2005 Annual Caring Award.

    Zhang Qian was an early traveler. He was probably the first man to bring back good information about the central Asian lands to China.

    In 138 BC, Han Wudi sent Zhang Qian to the Yue-chi people to ask for their help against the Xiongnu. Unfortunately, on the way to West Regions, he was caught by the Xiongnu people. Zhang had to stay with them for about 10 years before he got away. When Zhang at last reached the Yue-chi in Northern India, he was disappointed to find that they didn't want to fight against the Xiongnu people.

    On his return journey (旅程), Zhang Qian and his men were again caught. It was not until 125 BC that they returned to China. Although Zhang didn't finish his job he learned a lot about the places, people, customs and cultures of the 36 kingdoms (王国) of Western Regions.

    Han Wudi then sent Zhang to the west again. Zhang's journey to the west helped with international trade, especially in silk, between China and the West.
