He took a series of photos of his friends Veronica and Anna Maria. They live completely 3life styles and are getting opposite results.
In the photos, Anna Maria, a Spanish girl, can be seen 4a TV play. "She spends most of her time on the sofa." says Chi. Anna Maria 5goes out because she thinks she's not attractive and doesn't know 6to say in social situations. She blames her fate(命运). "I' m not as 7as Veronica," she often says.
But Veronica, the "lucky" girl next door, has 8herself four foreign languages and traveled to many places. She goes to the 9regularly. She takes part in any conversation and becomes the center of attention because of her 10knowledge and experience.
Looking at Veronica, it's 11that she's taking control of her fate. In order to communicate with Chi Zhen better, she's studying Chinese. Her experience has 12Chi Zhen to communicate with students from all countries, and she's getting good results. " 13I learned about so many different ideas and attitudes, I still need some time to get used to them," she says.
The influence of the photos has gone 14beyond what Chi Zhen expected. One of the users commented on his photos on renren.com, saying: "A wall separates two worlds, and the life we have 15what we do. I'd work harder rather than complain about my fate later."

When I was a university teacher in Ningbo, I told my students that it would be wise to keep their smartphones in their backpacks. They were young adults. I didn't want to take their phones, nor could I shout at them. You can guess what happened.
Some students were polite, using their phones between activities. Others would rudely text their friends during lessons, sometimes even while I talked to them. One young woman, K, openly played a game at her desk with earphones!
Why did such a situation appear? I began to think my class was boring (probably true!) and that my students hated me (I could understand). But what could I do? I couldn't fail every student. Maybe I was just a boring teacher.
With all the recent talk about banning(禁止) smartphones at schools, you might think I'm in favor. I'm actually not so sure. This technology isn't going away. Teachers probably need to change as much as students.
I designed activities to let them use pens and paper, and moving around the room to talk to classmates. It kind of worked! I also found ways to use their phones. Things like research, translation and creative projects. I found that my students worked hardest on these activities.
Phones might not be the biggest problem. Once, walking at school, I saw K standing alone in the dark. I could see her face, lit up by her mobile game. Maybe smart phone addiction (上瘾) at school is a sign of loneliness or a boring teacher.
"Has anyone seen my notebook?" Jo asked. "You're never going to see it again because I burned it!" Amy said. Jo's face turned pale. She grabbed her shoulders and shook her. "You're a wicked, wicked little girl!" Jo cried. " I'll never forgive (原谅) you !"
When Mrs March came home and heard the story, she said to Amy, "How could you do that?" Those were stories Jo hoped to get printed in the newspaper."
Amy realized what a terrible thing she had done and started to cry. Later, she begged Jo to forgive her, but Jo answered, "I'll never forgive you."
The next day, Jo went to skate with Laurie. Amy went there, too. Jo turned away when she saw her.
"The ice in the middle isn't safe!" called Laurie, "Stay near the edge." Jo heard the warning, but Amy didn't. She skated to the middle of the river. Suddenly, the ice cracked. Amy fell through the ice with a loud cry. Jo and Laurie pulled Amy out and quickly took frightened girl home.
Mother wrapped Amy in blanket. She soon fell asleep. Jo asked her mother, "Are you sure she will be OK?" "Yes, it's a good thing you got her home so quickly."
"Thanks to Laurie, it's my fault! I lose my temper (脾气) so easily. Why can't I be more like you?" "I get angry every day," said Mrs March. "But I've learned to hide it. I don't allow all of those angry words to leave my lips. You'll learn to do the same one day."
Jo began to cry. This made Amy open her eyes and smile. Her smile hit Jo straight in the heart. They hugged on another. Everything was forgiven and forgotten.
(Adapted from Little Women)
a. Amy realized her mistake.
b. Jo saved Amy.
c. Amy burnt Jo's notebook.
d. Amy went skating.
e. Mrs. March questioned Amy.
(3)What is the most stressful (有压力的) thing in school? It is probably exams. Exams can put us under a lot of stress. But some students do better under stress, while others do not. So, why do some students behave better under stress?
It all comes down to dopamine (多巴胺). Dopamine is a chemical in our body that sends signals in the brain. It has many important roles: influencing memory, attention and how we learn.
Our brains work best when there is a balance (平衡) of dopamine—not too much or too little. Our brains control dopamine in two ways. It either takes out dopamine quickly, or bit by bit. Exam success can be connected to how fast dopamine goes back to a balance, according to new research from the University of Missouri, reported Yahoo.
What happens when we take an exam? If you become stressed, your brain will start to overload on dopamine. It is like a cup overflowing with water. The quicker you are able to go back to a balance of dopamine, the quicker you can focus, helping you do better on a test.
Scientists found that, during a test, people who slowly got back to a balance of dopamine scored 8 percent lower. That's the difference between a good mark and a bad mark.
But don't fear, there is good news for every student. The study also found that the more practice you get, the less stressed you will be. So, it turns out that .
①remembering something
②having a good rest
③paying attention to the teachers
④choosing the way we learn
