Hello, boys and girls. I'm Miss Baker. I will introduce a great summer course to you. It's for the students who are interested in computer games. But you won't be playing computer games. You will learn how to design them.

    You will get the opportunity to learn from two famous computer game designers. They are Sam Gates and Daniel Stone from the company Starry Games. You will learn how to use different computer programs and create computer games by yourself.

    As for the length of the course, this year the course is from August 14 to August 20. Students who are taking the course will stay at a hotel that has computers, a dining hall, and a swimming pool. You only need to pay 260 dollars! But there are only 20 places available.     Chen Lingyu, 28, is a saleswoman at a garment company in Wuhan, Central China's Hubei province, and she was a volunteer driver in the fight against the novel coronavirus(新冠肺炎). She drove medical workers between their homes and hospitals every day.

    “I love Wuhan, whether it is good or not. In the current situation, I would like to do what I can to help. The buses and subways have stopped running, but medical workers need to do their important work. My work can help them, and it makes me feel better.” Chen said.

    She drove more than 10 doctors and nurses to hospitals and back home a day.

    Chen remembered clearly when she first picked up two nurses at Zhongshan Hospital in the city's Qiaokou district, as they told her if she had not picked them up, they might have to walk home. Chen took her temperature and never forgot to wear a face mask every day. The protective clothing she wore when driving was hung on her balcony after work.

    She said she ate two meals a day  one in the morning, and another meal after finishing the day's work. One day, she drove so many medical workers home, and she was so tired that she didn't eat supper.

    She said she lived by herself, and her parents lived with her grandparents. They supported her, saying she needed to be careful and used good protection measures.

    When she was a university student, Chen did volunteer at Wuhan Railway Station. At the beginning of the epidemic（疫情）, she bought 3,000 face masks to donate, and also joined the volunteer driver team.

    Though she got tired, she never even thought of giving up.

    World Book Day falls on April 23 every year. It was set up in 1955 to encourage people to discover the pleasure of reading.

    Many countries celebrate World Book Day. In the UK, the government has introduced a rule that a book token(购书券)is a passport. Every year 15 million tokens are given out to students in Britain and Ireland. With a token, students can go to any bookshop to choose a free book according to their taste and hobby. It is believed that 15% of the UK children don't have a book of theirs. This mainly results from the high book prices. A book token will help them realize their dream to have their first book.

    Reading helps us become more knowledgeable and more intelligent(智慧的). Reading helps us to follow the latest developments of science and technology. Reading provides us with information about other culture and places of the world. When we read, we may learn many things that are off our beat to us. We would have to use our brain to think about them or do more reading to find out the answers. The more we read, the more we know. The more we know, the smarter we become.

    Reading is also one of the most important ways to learn a foreign language like English. we all know that we can't learn everything at school, for example, the ways English people are speaking and writing today. “Reading makes a full man.” Books, magazines, newspapers and other kinds of reading materials can help to know more about the outside world and perfect us. Therefore, it is necessary to form the habit of reading every day.

    Well, I have one question. What about all the people  (live) in the world who have no food  (eat) and no place to live? They are  (important) than ancient civilizations that have disappeared. The money that has been given to researchers explore ruins of the past could be better spent on helping poor people all around  world. What will the world come to when the past  (matter) more than the present? We should pay more attention  the problems that we have today and what kind of solutions we are going to find.
