    Once there was a little stream (小溪). It flowed down from a high mountain and travelled through many villages and forests. At last it reached a desert. “I went through so many difficulties. I should have no problem crossing the desert, she thought. As she started, she found herself slowly disappearing into the sand. After many tries, she still failed. “Maybe I can't reach the ocean,” she said sadly to herself.

    At this time, a deep voice said, “If a breeze (微风) can cross the desert, so can a stream.” It was the voice of the desert. But the little stream answered, “That's because a breeze can fly, but I cannot.”

“That's because you can't give up what you are. Let yourself evaporate (蒸发) into the breeze, and it can take you across,” said the desert. “Give up what I am now? No! No!” The little stream could not accept this idea. “The breeze can carry the vapor (蒸汽) across the desert and let it leave as rain. The min will form a river again,” said the desert. “And whether you're a river or vapor, your nature never changes.” Hearing this, the little stream went into the open arms of the breeze. It carried her to the next stage of her life.

    The course of our lives is like the experience of the little stream. If you want to go through difficulties in your life to head for success, you should also change the way you are.

I was in the fifth grade and about to take a Maths test. In the first grade I had always been good at school, and simple Maths was easy for me and I always did well on tests. When it came to the fifth grade Maths, I couldn't understand it no matter how hard I tried. Mom and Dad had always been so proud of my good grades and I didn't want to let them down. Just before the test, I had written several of the answers on my desk. I sat nervously as the teacher started to hand out the test papers. I didn't want to get caught，but I didn't want to fail the exam either. .

As the teacher was walking around me, suddenly the fire alarm went off. It was an unscheduled fire drill (消防演习). We all rushed to the playground and stood together. As I stood in the warm sunshine, I realized what a fool I had been. I knew my mom and dad would be proud of me and love me no matter what my grades were. As soon as we were allowed to go back to the classroom, I walked to my desk and wiped (擦) the answers away. I had been given a second chance and I wasn't going to waste it. I took the test, did my best, and felt at peace. I don't remember what my grade was but that day has stayed in my heart and mind ever since.

I am not sure why God gave me a second chance that day. Life is foil of second chances, but you have to be willing to take them. You have to be willing to correct your mistakes. You have to be willing to follow your heart. Every day when you wake up, you are given a second chance in life.

    Sports can help you keep fit and close to nature. However, whether you are on the mountains, in the waves, or on the grassland, you should realize that the sport you choose might have great influence on the environment.

    Some sports are resource-hungry. Golf, as you may know, eats up not only large areas of countryside, but also lots of water. Besides, much energy is used to keep its courses in good condition. This causes major environmental changes. For example, in the dry places of Portugal and Spain, golf is often held responsible for serious water shortage in some local areas.

There are many environment-friendly sports. Power walking is one of them that you could take up today. You don't need any special equipment except a good pair of shoes, and you don't have to worry about resources and your wallet. Simple and free, power walking can also help you stay healthy. If you walk regularly, it will be good for your heart. Experts say that 20 minutes of power walking daily can make you feel less nervous, sleep well and keep thin.

Whatever sport you take up, you can make it greener by using environment-friendly equipment and buying products made from recycled materials. But the final goal should be “green gyms”. They are better replacements (替代) for traditional health clubs and modem sports centers. Members of green gyms play sports outdoors, in the countryside or other open spaces. There is no special requirement for you to start your membership. And best of all, it's free.

    Nowadays, many ladies prefer fur coats rather than clothes made of other materials.

    Animal fur can be used to make a variety of clothes: hats, coats and even dresses. Common sources of fur include foxes，rabbits and raccoons (浣熊). The clothes made of animal fur are considered to be more luxurious (奢侈的) than others and they're very expensive.

    One full-length fur coat is made of the fur of sixty rabbits. To produce just one coat, a lot of animals have to die. Many people including me believe that killing animals for their fur is really cruel. They also have rights and should be respected.

    For some groups of people, wearing real fur is a cultural tradition and it also shows their way of life. For others living in very cold climates such as Siberia, wearing fur coats is a matter of survival. Without them, they may not be able to live through the cold winter. However, there are many people in the Western world who still see fur as a symbol of wealth. In fact, they can still live without a fur coat.

British fashion designer Stella McCartney refuses to use any animal products in her collections. Many stores have also banned (禁止) the sale of products of real fur. Instead, they use fake fur which is made to look and feel like real for. It is a lot cheaper, but will still keep people warm.

My first memory of volunteering was when I was 7 years old. My elder brother was        volunteer in our community. I always followed        wherever he went. I still remember that day: It was warm and         (wind), and everyone was in a good mood and we finished the project early. I was         young to carry any heavy things, but I remember        (feel) great when we completed the project.

I'm still keeping that feeling. From helping different animal welfare (福利) organizations to taking part in local food banks and being an animal keeper in a museum, volunteering has brought me so many good        (memory). And with a love for animals, I recently just        (volunteer) at a rabbit protection organization. I spent 2 hours a week        (walk) out with rabbits. From just sitting with them to letting them get used to        (stay) with humans or playing with them, volunteering is a good way        (help) animals in need!
