“Save the whales!” That's what the picture on Jake Smith's bedroom wall said. Jake liked having a picture that said something important: that showed he cared. He just never expected to get a chance to save a real whale, one night in his own neighborhood.
It was a Saturday morning when the newspaper first reported the whales' coming. A group of the animals were swimming close to the beach in Jake's hometown. All the local people rushed out to the beach to see them. They were expecting a beautiful show, better than a movie, but nothing they'd have to do anything about.
Then one whale swam in the direction, directly towards land. It came in with the waves, and when the waves receded. Its huge body on the sand. Suddenly, Jake and his family and all the others were no longer sightseers. They had to become rescuers. A few people ran towards the animal. They pushed and tried to force the whale back into the water, but it was no use.
An animal rescue service team soon arrived in a truck with heavy lifting machinery, to help move the animal. Jack and his family couldn't do much on the beach, so they went back to their house and made sandwiches and hot tea for the rescuers. At least, Jake thought, they could help in some way.
Back at the beach, they offered the food to the rescuers and were happy to see that it was needed. It was getting dark. Some people lined up their cars along the beach and shined the headlights on the sand. The rescuers would not give up. After trying many times they were finally able to lift the whale into the water. Everyone cheered when it headed out to sea. It swam out about a mile and then disappeared for a moment under the sea. Then, in what looked like a jump of joy, it rose high above the water—a thank-you to those who had worked so hard to save his life.
a. The whale disappeared under the sea.
b. People turned on the lights of their cars.
c. Rescuers lifted the whale into the water.
d. People pushed the whale towards the sea.

Butterflies are common all over the world, but butterflies in hotter countries are usually bigger and more brightly colored than those in cooler countries, and there are more different kinds.
Usually the male butterflies are more brightly colored than the females. The females have bigger and heavier bodies since they carry the eggs. The bright colors of the males help to attract the females, and the duller colors of the females make them less likely to be caught by enemies before they have laid their eggs.
Some butterflies have bright pattern colors on the upper surface of their wings that show when flying ,but when they rest on a tree or leaves , they close their wings. On the undersides of their wings there are green and brown marks which look like the tree or leaves. They are then difficult to be seen. The best example of this is the Dead Leaf Butterfly. When its wings are c1osed,it looks exactly like a dead leaf. There are even marks that look like the holes in a dead leaf. When the butterfly is run after by a bird,it closes its wings and seems to have disappeared completely.
Under the beauty of their colorful covers, the butterflies have their own way to avoid being killed by their enemies. So do the other animals. That's the rules of the nature and also the gifts that were born with. Many butterflies have round marks on their wings that look like eyes. The round marks have a useful function(功能).When the butterflies are resting, their wings are closed, and these marks can't be seen. When a bird sees one,and begins to attack it,the butterfly will open its Wings. The bird thinks that it sees two eyes staring at it,frightened, and flies away.
A.Never be afraid to give B.Plan ahead as much as possible C.Work out your priorities。 D.Be disciplined(有纪律的) at all times E.Make sure everything has its place F.Stick to a schedule |
Being Well﹣Organized And Getting Things Done
Being well﹣organized and getting things done and what we have done is tried to make them as easy to follow as possible to allow you to implement(实施) them immediately. There is no doubt that being organized does make a difference.
It is something that you should do every single day and the best way to approach this is to place things in order of importance.Watching that movie may sound like a good idea, but put that at the bottom of the list and focus on things that influence your work, health,or anything else that is key to your survival(生存).
Next, you should consider trying to plan ahead,so if you know that there is an appointment at a certain location for a certain time, then plan your day around that appointment
Knowing where everything is really will allow you to get more things done as you will waste less time hunting for that object that you require to complete your task.Too much time is wasted hunting for keys or that piece of paper and it also just stresses you out and can upset your pace.
Giving tasks to others will always lead to you getting more done, but it is not just a case of picking anybody to do a task.Instead, you need to make sure that they are capable of doing it without running into any problems and that they do have the correct tools to complete the job.
Having a schedule will help to force you into completing tasks on time and actually getting more done in the process. The only problem here is that you need to be sensible when working out how long something takes or you will put undue pressure on yourself and this is where mistakes can occur and you will actually then start to get less done.
