Disney's princess stories are famous around the world. You must know some of them, such as Snow White, Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty.
All princesses are very beautiful. Princes fall in love with them at first sight. In the end, the princess and prince will have a happy life together.
However, princesses often cannot protect themselves. They need help from others. This is the old image of Disney's princesses.
A few weeks ago, Disney made 10 new rules. To be a princess you must follow these rules. Surprisingly, no rule talks about having a “pretty face”. Instead the rules are about good characteristics like honesty, loyalty and never giving up.
Princesses need to grow up. When they meet problems, they need to protect themselves. They need to find ways to get away from dangerous people.
For example, Elsa and Anna fight against the bad prince in Frozen. They need to believe in themselves and their friends. Mulan shows her courage to fight in the army. “Beauty” cannot help them. But a strong heart can. In the real world, these are the rules you need to follow.
In 2014, Buzzfeed, a US news website, did a survey called "Which Disney princess do you like most?" As it turned out, the most popular one was Belle! More than 18 percent of people chose her. Belle is in the movie Beauty and the Beast. She is very kind and gentle, she takes care of the Beast and uses her clever mind to get out of trouble.
a. can protect herself
b. can run away from dangerous people
c. can fight against bad people
d. should wait for a prince when in danger
e. must have beauty as well as a strong heart

The Taj Mahal (泰姬陵) is considered to be one of the most beautiful buildings in the world and the finest example of the late style of Indian architecture. It is at Agra in northern India. It lies beside the River Jumna in the middle of gardens with quiet pools.
The Taj Mahal was built by the Mogul emperor Shah Jehan, who ruled India in the seventeenth century. It is in memory of his favorite wife, Arjumand Banu Bagam, known as Mumtaz Mahal, who died in 1631. The building, which was completed between 1632 and 1638, was designed by a local Muslim architect, Ustad Ahmad Lahori. The whole building for Mumtaz Mahal, with gardens and gateway structures, was completed in 1643. The Taj Mahal stands at one end of the garden tomb with marble (大理石) path. The room is softly lighted by the light that passes through double screens of carved marble set high in the walls. The building now is kept in good condition.
Shah Jehan continued to build the Taj Mahal. He planned a similar building for him, but in black instead of white, to lie on the other side of the river. But before it could be built, Shah Jehan was put into prison by his son and buried next to his wife in the Taj Mahal.

You probably know you should say “please” and “thank you” at restaurants. You probably know the rules of a library. You know you should respect and be nice to your classmates. But do you have music manners?
Keep It Down! You have to notice the volume of your music. You should not play your music so loud that everyone around you can hear it. Some people might even get angry. Usually, when you play the music loud on an MP3 player, other people can't hear the words of the song. They just hear a loud sound. No one wants to listen to this. Very loud music can also be bad for your ears. So even if you are alone when listening to your MP3 players, you shouldn't turn it up too high.
Take Them Off! You need to know when to turn your MP3 off and put it away. Libraries, and schools don't allow MP3 players. There are other places, like museums, that don't have rules, but it would be rude to have your MP3 player on. Sometimes, it doesn't make sense to listen on your MP3 player at event. Why would you listen to music at a play, a movie or a sporting event? You would miss what is going on and others would wonder why you even came.
Take One Out! Once in a while it's okay just to take out one earphone and not other. Imagine you are listening on your MP3 player when someone asks you the way. It would not be rude to take out one earphone, tell him the way, and put back the earphone and continue listening. You can also do this when you order food at a fast-food restaurant or when you answer the telephone and it's not for you.
It's Your Choice! There are times when you need to decide what is best. For example, some people can listen to music on their MP3 players when reading books, while others think it is disturbing. In cases like this, you need to do what seems right for you.

The Earth is our home; we must take care of it. This means keeping the land, air and water clean. Pollution is a dirty word. To pollute means to make things unfit or unclean to use. Pollution comes in many ways. We see it, smell it, taste it and drink it. Pollution is beginning to threaten (威胁) our health, our happiness and our life. Man has been polluting the earth from the time he first made fire, washed his clothes in the river and threw his waste on the ground. When land was used up or water became dirty, men moved on to another place. At first, the problem was not so serious because there was plenty of clean air, land and water. There weren't so many people then and their wants were fewer. All the dirty things could be absorbed (吸收) by nature and soon covered over. But this is no longer true. The increase of population and the development of industry(工业)have changed that. Man is slowly poisoning (毒害) his environment. Through the use of poison, man has polluted the land, killing the animals. By putting dirty water and chemicals into rivers and lakes we have polluted our drinking water, killing the fish.
Our increasing population is part of the problem. More people, more waste.
Where is this all to end? Are we turning the world into a big rubbish dump (堆存处), or is there any hope that we can get rid of (摆脱, 除去) the pollution? Luckily, millions of people have been warned of the danger of pollution. Large numbers of people are now working hard to bring pollution under control.

Graffiti is a common feature of most Western cities. The word graffiti was from the Greek word, graphein, which only meant writing. These days, however, the word means drawing or writing the wall of buildings, or the public transportation, such as trains or buses.
Graffiti, as a form of expression, was born in New York during 1960s and 1970s. At that time, a new modern culture about city life appeared. Graffiti was a written form of expression of that life. Later, it was (mix) with a musical form called hip-hop that was another expression of the city life.
At first, graffiti artists used pens. But then, with the (develop) of graffiti, they became (experience). They turned to using spray paint. Spray paint allowed them to draw a greater area. And it also allowed them to work (quick) than before, which was an advantage when they worked in neighborhoods graffiti wasn't welcome.
At the present time, different people have different ideas about graffiti. Some people say makes the cities dirty. It isn't allowed by many local governments in America. The governments spend more than a million dollars a year (clean) graffiti. The money, they say, could be better spent on health or education. Other people think it is a form of art. In fact, the (work) of some famous graffiti artists can be found in museums, galleries and art books.
