    Robots seem very new to most people. But they have a 1 history. A Greek scientist made the first robot. You may 2 robots in some movies. The robots in the movies are usually stronger, faster and 3 than people. In real life, most robots are used in factories. They can do lots of dangerous, difficult or4 jobs. Some people can't look 5 themselves and robots can help them. For example, some people can't see, and they use a guide dog to help themselves move. But now scientists are making a 6 to help them.

    Robots are also used in American hospitals. At one hospital, a robot 7 meals from the kitchen to the sick people's rooms. It never loses its 8 because it has a map of the hospital in its computer system(系统). 9 the future, robots will even work in space. But robots will 10 take the place of(代替)people but only work for people. They can, however, help us in a lot of different ways.

    Experts(专家) say that students usually need eight to ten hours' sleep at night， but most Chinese students do not get enough sleep. Some Chinese parents are usually glad to see their children studying late. They will think their children work very hard， but not all parents are happy about this. Once a mother told us that every morning her 10-year-old boy put up one finger (手指) with his eyes still closed， begging(请求) for one more minute to sleep. Like thousands of students “ early birds” in China， he has to get up before six every morning.

    A report shows that without a good night's sleep， students seem to be weaker (虚弱) than they should be. Many students have fallen asleep during class at one time or another. Too much homework is not the only reason why students stay up late. Some watch TV or play the computer games late into the night.

    Experts have ever said that the students should develop good study habits. So some clever students never study late， they are able to work well in class.

    Mr Ellis is very old. He has seen many changes in his hometown.

He knows that things are different now. But he never forgets the old days. He likes to talk about them. He often talks about his favorite birds , the robins (一种小鸟—鸫).“When I was a boy, these houses were not here. There were wide fields and tall trees. Every spring the robins would come.     Children in the US will leave their parents' home when they grow up.They usually live far from their parents because they want to find good jobs.They often write to their parents or telephone them.And they often go to visit their parents on holiday.

    Parents usually let their children choose their own jobs.Americans think it is important for young people to decide on their lives by themselves.

    Parents ask children to do some work around their house.And in many families, parents pay their children for doing some housework so that hey learn how to make money for their own use.

    My friend, Dick, has a large police dog. Its name is Jack. Every Saturday afternoon Dick takes Jack for a long walk in the park. Jack likes these long walks very much.

    One Saturday afternoon, a young man came to visit my friend. He stayed a long time. He talked and talked. Soon it was time for my friend to take Jack for a walk. But the man was still there. Jack became very worried. He walked around the room several times and then sat down in front of the man and looked at him. But the man kept talking. Finally Jack couldn't stand it anymore. He went out of the room and came back a few minutes later. He sat down again in front of the man, but this time he held the man's hat in his mouth.
