Philip is the bravest boy I know. His friends and family are all very1him.

Ten-year-old Philip was born with an2which means that he is always breaking his bones（骨头）. Although he has such a serious illness, Philip3playing sports. In January last year he4wheelchair racing. He came second in his first5, and since then Philip has won every other race!

In order to look for a new challenge（挑战）， Philip6to take part in the London Wheelchair Marathon（马拉松）7, five days before the race Philip got sick. He didn't want to8He finally made up his mind to take part. Philip was given medicine by his doctor and guess what? He not only9it, but he also finished in first place!

Philip is very10and never gives up. That's why he has been chosen to be the Bravest Child of the Month.

    “The brat（捣蛋鬼）！” Said Alice. She ran into her house with her kids.

    Every time Gina walked down the street, her neighbors ran away. Gina was the only child of her parents. Her parents never refused her anything. And Gina, in turn, always made sure that she would gets whatever she wanted.

    One day Gina's mother noticed that her daughter didn't have any friends. Every child knows that Gina is clever but they just don't want to play with her.

    Things changed when Rita joined Gina's class. Rita was new to the city and too shy to make any friends. Gina bossed her around as she always does. But Rita doesn't mind.

    “Rita cried today in front of the class. Rita went to do her math exercises on the blackboard. She wasn't able to do them although the teacher had explained carefully. Everyone laughed at her.”  Gina told her mother after school. “Why don't you try to explain to her simply,” asked her mother.

    “Mommy, I don't want to waste time.”

    “But Rita is your friend and if you don't help her, who will?”

    Very unhappy, Gina helped Rita. Gina has the gift(天赋) of explaining things simply. Rita understood the math questions and the teacher praised her in front of the class. Rita told everyone what a good friend Gina is. From that day Gina and Rita became good friends. And no one called Gina “the brat” any more.

    Welcome to the Painting Competition for Woolands Students

    The International Anti­Drug(禁毒) Day this year is coming soon. In order to raise teenagers' awareness(意识) to fight against drug taking, the City Art Council is going to hold a painting competition for the students in our city.

Students who want to take part in the competition can hand in their own 2D paintings in either of the following two ways：

    Each school will be provided with a box for students to put in their paintings. Boxes will be picked up by the City Art Council on Thursday, June 23rd, 2016, before the end of the school day.

    Paintings can be also handed in on Friday, June 24th, from 8：00 am to 10：00 am at the Woodlands Art Hall (175 Riverside Street)．

    All paintings are required to be 60cm wide by 80cm long or smaller. Larger sizes will not be accepted. Each student can only hand in one painting.

    The final decision on the competition results will be made on June 26th, the Anti­Drug Day. The name list of the winners will be made known on the website of the City Art Council on the same day. All winning paintings will be shown to the public at the City Youth Park from June 27th till the end of July.

    Bad breath, or halitosis(口臭)， can be a serious problem.

    Bad breath is caused by some germs(细菌) that grow in the month. When you don't brush in a right way, germs will leave between your teeth and make your breath smell bad. Certain foods, especially ones like garlic and onions can cause bad breath. Smoking can also make bad breath.

    Some people say that mouthwash(漱口水) will make bad breath go away, but it isn't true. It only stops bad breath for a short time.

Some people also say that if you brush your teeth, you will not have bad breath. But the truth is that most people only brush their teeth for 30 to 45 seconds. It just doesn't work. To clean all your teeth, you should brush for at least 2 minutes and at least twice a day. Remember to b rush your tongue, too—germs love to stay there.

    If you do brush properly, but your bad breath still exists, visit your dentist for cleanings.  You may have a medical problem like germ disease.

    If you don't want to have bad breath, make sure you're taking care of your teeth and month well.

    I'm a high school student. One day，on my way to school I found that along the river bank in Zhaowang River Park，the road was badly destroyed and some color bricks had disappeared，which would affect people's going out. ①Perhaps these bricks were carried away by some people nearby and kept by themselves. ②我对此事感到伤心。

    Since the public facilities are often destroyed like that，I suggest that our government should repair the road as soon as possible and take some measures to protect these public facilities. And as to us students，whenever we find someone destroying our public facilities，we should make efforts to stop him or her in time. Only in this way can we have a more beautiful and comfortable city to live in.
