     Here are some English study skills for beginners.

★Listening

     Listening is a great way to improve your pronunciation and intonation (语调). You can start by listening to short stories for children because they are usually easy.

★Reading

Reading is a good way to help you learn new words. And it will also help you learn English grammar. Children's books are great for beginners.

★Vocabulary

     When you come across new words in the reading, write them down in your notebook. You can write down the translation in your native language to help you understand.

★Speaking

     While doing your reading exercises, read them aloud. You can also look for some articles (文章) on the Internet to read.

Learning any language needs practice — lots of practice. You don't have to spend hours studying each day; just 30 minutes a day for four or five days a week will help you improve it.

A father sat at his desk thinking of his poor family life when his young son ran in and said happily, “Dad, because this is your birthday and you're 50 years old, I'm going to give you 50 kisses, one for each year!” But the father said, “Oh, Andrew, don't do it now. I'm too busy!” Hearing this, the boy said nothing as tears (眼泪) ran down in his big blue eyes. The father felt sorry for his son, and then he said, “You can finish later.”

The boy walked away, with disappointment on his face. That evening the father said, “Come and finish the kisses now, Andrew!” But the boy didn't answer.

      Unluckily, a few days later, the boy had an accident (事故) and left his father forever.

      Love is a two-way street. We must warmly accept (接受) any loving act, or we will feel sorry.

      We all know that Britain and the US are two countries connected by English. But in fact, the differences are more fun. Here are some to share with you.

Get dressed for dinner

The British don't all change into evening dress for supper. But they often get dressed when going out for dinner somewhere nice. Americans, however, will probably wear a casual (随便的) shirt to a fancy restaurant.

Don't finish your food

The British don't like to take the leftovers home when eating out at a restaurant. They think the food is dirty once they have pocked at it with a knife and fork. In the US, wrapping (打包) it up to take home is a usual thing.

Get into a taxi

The British will give the driver an address, then they keep quiet until it's time to pay. In the US, however, most people think it's necessary to show the way to the destination (目的地) in person.
