    How was your camping trip? Dad says you're just getting back home this Wednesday. I've been taking good care of Sparky for you. The dog sleeps at the foot of my bed on most nights. He and the cat have even been getting along.

Dear Kyle,

    Our camping trip was wonderful! We've already decided to come here again next year. From Ohio. We drove south to Kentucky. We enjoy looking at rocks, so we had decided to go to Mammoth Cave National Park. I'd never seen so many rocks!

    Each day, we chose a different cave. We saw narrow(狭窄的)places and huge ones. In one cave, we were underground for more than two miles.

    We'll come to get Sparky next weekend, if that's okay.

    The Flame Mountain(火焰山)is about 200 km away from Urumqi in Xinjiang. It is in a place with many high mountains around it. It is much hotter than nearby places. If you want to enjoy the feeling of a hot shower in summer, it's the right place to go!

    On hot summer days, it can get hotter than 80℃. Try to cook eggs or cakes in the sand and they will be ready in a few minutes!

Does rain help make it cooler? People hardly see rain in 10 out of the 12 months in a year. Why? For most of the time, the raindrops dry in the hot air before they reach the ground.

    The mountain came into being millions of years ago when the earth was changing a lot. We can't see any plants on the top of the mountain, only red rocks. They make the whole mountain look red. In hot air and strong sunshine, the mountain looks like a burning flame. That's where its name comes from.

    My work allows me to live in different countries. Reading books helps me to connect(联系)with my friends and family, and my home country, the UK. Here are just some books that I read a lot.

    Daddy Long Legs

    This book follows the story of a young girl Judy, as she goes to university and gets lots of new experiences. This book always reminds me of my mother because she used to read it to me when I was ill in bed.

    The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

    This is a science fiction book about a man's adventures(冒险经历)in space. It is really creative and has a very British sense of humor(幽默感). For this reason, it might be a bit difficult for foreigners to understand, but when I read it, I feel a strong connection to my home. When I worked in Japan and the USA, the book was by my side.

    Harry Potter

    I'm sure many of you know Harry Potter books! I have read them many times since primary school. I really get lost in the stories. These days I' m reading them again in Germany.

    The Railway Children.

    This was one of my favorite books. It was a gift for my 13th birthday from my best friend, so it still strongly reminds me of my childhood(童年). It follows three children and their adventures next to a railway(铁路).

    Everyone likes their childhood and wishes to go back there. I also have a wonderful       .

    There are many sweet        in it and I want to share some        you. During my childhood I lived with my family. I have an elder sister and a younger brother and we used to play a game called "       sale".     Last weekend, I took a trip to the popular National Air and Space Museum. I found that lots of children all over the place were happy. If ever in my life I felt like a child again, this was surely the place.

    As I went into the cockpit(驾驶舱)of an airplane, I felt that my dream of becoming a pilot came true. Everywhere I walked, I was close to airplanes. Very big spaceships and rockets were in different houses. There were kinds of cool things on show. You could join in many experiments to explore(探索)interesting things on science. The National Air and Space Museum is an excellent place to visit.

    Oh, make sure you eat something before you come into the museum because the only place you can eat something here is a Boston Market fast food restaurant. The price of the food in it is very high. I had a Big Mac meal for almost $9!
